District 4 Junction: E-Sports, the vector for censorship and control (of the players wages)?

We have a situation, and its called E-Sports.

As the NFL ratings have gone down, the networks are going mad. Where are we going to make the money? Where are the people are going?

The recent studies have stated that e-sports is growing by leaps and bounds. But with it comes dangers.

The issue comes back to two major issues. Censorship (R-Mika issues), and sponsorship of the players in e-sports.

In a recent ESPN televised event, one Asian E-Sports player was told  to change one of the consumes of R-Mika even though he never had to do that for anywhere else, and Capcom had already censored her and Cammy as well. This is repression. But maybe because of the language barrier (more like a long ranging over arching campaign to get a certain candidate elected.), IMHO he should have forfeit the match. No player should be ever made embarrassed to play in front of crowds watching this “sport”.

And I put the “sport” in quotes – because why? Its a kin to a version of Nascar (which is a sport) with out the honesty and protection of a Players Union. Its geek UFC meets Mother Superior Morality, FGC in the hands and pockets of ESPN and Red Bull and pedantic Ad-Men and bullshit artists. A world view of using minorities again to promote bullcrap lies and derision from the most insecure generation in modern parlance.

The real joke, the real sadness – is that e-sports is yet another dream factory, not unlike what the NFL to the NHL is to many who dream of the Sunday’s with the whole nation watching. The truth is, markets, and peoples feelings about the world can affect this. The NFL to NHL has a players union. The UFC, Nascar and e-Sports don’t. Where will their be a some sort of union (or trade organization)  to protect the players of these E-Sports?

Because all this is – just like Pateron for these artists and what not, is a form of massive, economic exploitation on a massive scale. ESPN has lost 658,000 viewers just in the last three months ALONE. NFL is going down, as other sports waiting for some sort of signal that they have taken their sport to next level in ratings. The super stars of the UFC are about to retire or have been caught with things concerning drugs. Where else to go but to E-Sports?

And the same issues that have caused the issues not only in video games, but in our life – cultural and political are effecting E-Sports. Frontrunning. Backroom deals. Hypocrisy dealing with advertisers, Censorship and the use of the players to get blood out of a stone, and convince others to join in this crap.

Its a response to a economics that have made hobbies into jobs, jobs into hobbies, jobs into a joke, and the jobs that matter into a game where nobody wins. If we had a enonomics that was fair, we wouldnt have this nonsense, just an honest day pay for a honest days work. Nothing more nothing less.

But all E-Sports in the modern day does is show that there is nothing honest about ourselves and our way of enjoying the creations of our own hands.
